Not only is the New Otani Inn Tokyo convenient to the key entertainment
and business districts of the city but is also at the heart of Gate City
Ohsaki and Ohsaki New City, a new area that boasts any and every kind of
restaurant, cafe and bar! A minute's stroll will take you to a myriad of
restaurants specializing in cuisines from all over the
worldItalian, French, Chinese, Indonesian, Middle Eastern, African
(featuring live music!) and Caribbean. There is even a New York
Deli-style eatery (Royal Deli) that also serves Western-style breakfast
at reasonable prices.
Atrium
An impressive atrium with an airy, spacious plaza reminiscent of an
Italian piazza is home to a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants.
This lovely climate-controlled, multi-level environment is a delightful
place to sit and relax with a snack or refreshment purchased from any
one of the adjacent shops or restaurants. The atrium also boasts the
largest Starbucks coffee store in Tokyo.
Irish Pub
If you're in the mood for traditional Irish fare, you can enjoy a
delightful dinner at The Shannons' Irish pub. Nestled in a quaint,
terraced courtyard just outside the atrium, The Shannons' offers a wide
range of Irish whiskeys, authentic Irish cuisine, and, needless to say,
plenty of Guinness! (The Shannons' honors Irish currency.)
Buffet Restaurant
Among the many interesting restaurants and cafes is the comfortable
Festa Garden, a festive buffet restaurant whose lunch and dinner menus
include cuisine from all over the world. (Party bookings are available.)
Japanese Cuisine and Popular Customs
If you would like to sample some of the finest local cuisine, there is
an endless variety of wonderful Japanese restaurants, serving everything
from soba (buckwheat noodles), ramen (noodles
with bits of vegetables and meat in a clear broth) and
yakitori (tasty grilled pieces of chicken and/or vegetables
on a skewer) to katsu (pork, chicken or seafood deep-fried
in a fine batter), unagi (grilled eel) and sushi!
There is also the traditional izakaya, which is a
Japanese-style drinking establishment on the order of a Western beer
hall, and is a fun, relatively inexpensive way to enjoy a comfortable
Japanese atmosphere and tasty food. Generally, the menus are quite
extensive, ranging from traditional Japanese foods such as
sashimi (raw fish) and yakisoba (stir-fried
buckwheat noodles) to Western foods including French fries and fried
chicken.
The very popular Lion brasserie offers comfortable, affordable drinking
and eating in a relaxed setting. Menu includes draft beer, wine and
Western-style snack foods, including a variety of sausages and potato
dishes.
American Fast-food Restaurants
If you're on the run or just hankering for a burger or sandwich, a
McDonald's, Burger King and Subway submarine sandwich shop are just a
stone's throw away!
